PB1B Genre Generator

Experimenting with some genre generators, I have found out that many of them actually have specific types of generators for different needs and wants. There are dozens of different types of generators to choose some. Some generate memes and comics while others can help formulate an entire plot for a story based on your input. Many if not all genre generators will have specific fields to fill in when creating something. That is what makes them unique and helps them produce their product. They are very easy to use and help the user find and make whatever they want or need. It is as simple as typing in “genre generator” into google and finding endless options of different types of genre generators.
For the given generators I was only able to access two of them that were given and that was the Meme Generator and SCIgen. Immediately after getting on the website, the absolute very first page had gotten me to laugh within seconds. On the front page were some known ‘meme’ pictures that aren’t too appropriate to show. Yet, they got the best of me. I immediately began playing around and scrolling all over the site. I ended up realizing something about this meme generator that makes it unique and how people can use it. Everything that the site provides are just plain pictures. These pictures can be anything from tv shows, to comic books, to commercials. The options are endless. I decided to create an account and to explore what other options I have on the site. I noticed how I can create my own memes after registering and can make them however I want. I have the option to use the site’s templates or I can upload my own on their site and edit them. I could be able to take a picture that someone else has used and put a completely different meaning behind it too. It can be my own personal creation. There are numerous types of genres you can create from the options given on their website. It is very user friendly and gives you the opportunity to share your jokes and memes with everyone!
SCIgen is also a fantastic genre generator for computer science research papers. To use this generator is simple. The generator’s conventions are made and given out by the users request for a graph, a figure, or even a citation. You plug in the author you would want to use for information and the site will generate a paper with facts and examples. It is very convenient for people that have a hard time expressing what they want to say and making it much simpler for them.
I found another genre generator site that I found was pretty interesting. This site is called springhole.net. This site has numerous purposes to it. When you first access the site, you will notice how it has different generator option used to form story plots, different types of characters and their personalities, and even different story ideas. Some of their specific options are ‘Character Challenge & Obstacle Generator, an AU Idea Generator, and even a “How Your Pairing Met” Generator which gives you an idea on how a pair of characters relate to each other. The options are endless on this site and would definitely help out any writer looking to get creative with their story.
There are tons of sites all over the internet that could generate any genre that you might be looking for. When it comes to these types of sites, they all work based on what the user is inputting into their text fields and what the user might be looking for. Like I mentioned previously, genre generators don’t just have one rule that they follow. They are all made up of different conventions to generate whatever is requested by the user.

  1. I think your explanations are pretty well written but I got sort of lost when you started explaining springhole.net. A website that generates story ideas? I think your description of the site as a whole is vague and that you could have described it in further detail so the reader has a better understanding of what this site is and how it functions.

  2. The first thing I saw when I opened your blog was the Kevin Hart meme, and boy did it make me laugh. I like how you stated that all of the memes are just plain pictures that get captioned, and that there are multiple genres created by the different memes. I like how you described the SCIgen and how it gives graphs, figures, and citations, but overall I think you could have described that one a little more. The generator you found sounded interesting, but it was a little confusing and could have used some extra explanation.

  3. I love this blog post Jake! The humor tied into was really what kept me interested in it but you described the different generators so well that I felt like I could visualize it in my head without even going onto the website. Posting the Kevin Hart meme was such a great idea, especially since it tied into English class (; I do agree that the explanation for the one you found was a little vague but honestly, I think this post was great all around.

  4. If i'm going to be completely honest, the first thing that caught my attention was the meme in the middle, and it can't be more true! For the SCIgen, I liked how you included what conventions were used in the website, but you could've explained more in depth how it could help the users. For the generator that you found, springhole.net, I was a little confused. Is it supposed to be only for people who create stories? What are the main purposes of the site? Overall, although it was a little vague at bits and pieces, I thought it was a good blog post.

  6. As many others have stated before me your meme really got me intrigued and got me started reading your blog. I really thought what separated your blog from others is your use of descriptions and explanations that you used for each genre generator. Next, your usage of the extra genre generator gave you another good example how many of these websites have their own uses and implications.
